Cosmopolitan Magazine has long been hailed as the premiere “women’s magazine” – the one, in other words, that best teaches women how to comply with even the most random and obnoxious male whims with a gracious smile and a curtsy. There is an endless, if not intrusive, bombardment of “real male thoughts,” the secrecy of which the lucky female reader may uncover. Rest assured, ladies: whatever you’re currently doing, it’s not enough. And never fear; you need not discover your personal preferences alone – there are strange men volunteering for Cosmopolitan Magazine who can determine your desires for you. Aren’t you lucky?

Ahem.

However, there are alternatives to this type of social defecation. If you would prefer instead to peruse articles with witty social commentary regarding relevant – or entertainingly irrelevant – events, personalities and news, Jezebel.com might be more your speed. The site offers writers with style, sass and class. Watch breathlessly as these snarky correspondents maneuver belligerently through a patriarchal culture inundated with sexism and emerge victoriously, byline waving proudly in a temporarily-cloudless, egalitarian sky.

Or, you could just read up on “Valentine’s Day Gifts That Won’t Freak Him Out.” Whatever blows your skirt up.
