The Aptly-Named Encore

The Encore Restaurant, located at 2550 East Colfax (conveniently shoulder-to-shoulder with the Tattered Cover Book Store), is an amazing dining experience. The bar - where I placed my lovely, round posterior - had the overall look of polished silver. The drinks were phenomenal - do you have any idea how difficult it is to find a good Mojito in this town???

Bipartisan No More

A Supreme Court ruling on Thursday, January 21, 2010 overturned the longstanding precedent regarding campaign advertising by corporations, 5-4. The Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002 (otherwise known as the McCain-Feingold Act) was something that both parties had agreed on. It was constructed in order to protect the individual citizen from being run over by special interest groups with deep pockets.

Body Talk: Tappy Time

  Their headquarters are humble. Long windows frame the corner of the building where revolutionary breakthroughs in mind/body communications are made. “Body Talk sessions between 12 and 4,” is announced in purple marker on the door. Walking in, you immediately get the feel of a grass-roots church combined with a holistic medical facility (though there is a noticeable lack of crystals, beads, or incense.)

A woman’s use is limited to domestic partnership, childbearing and raising, and pleasurable amusement for men. A woman’s sole function is to ensnare, and marry, a witless male with her beauty, charm, and grace. A female is the yin to the male yang. A woman is only happy when she achieves acknowledgement of her loveliness and secures a man to adore and father her. No Girls Allowed!!

  

The new and unusual ways in which gender discrimination is implemented never cease to amaze me. Nate Hernandez of Weld County stood up against gender discrimination - and punched it right in the face. You see, there was a football game involving 9-11 year old kids. Shockingly, one of these players was a girl. [Insert obligatory Hollywood horror film scream]. So the boys all got together and decided to kick her out of their clubhouse. Can't you read? No Girls Allowed!!
